Lyon: La fête des lumières (2) [Continued from the previous post] At a subway/commuter train station. The characters were so cute. A Korean restaurant called Minanée! I was so happy to see it in France. :) :) Another cathedral, with a Catholic celebration in progress.. Teens selling candles to tourists! Christmas decorations at a local shop's show windows... Don't exactly know why, but I loved this corner of the city.. Back t.. 더보기
Lyon: La fête des lumières (1) A very, very, very late update on Lyon's La fête des lumières, which was already more than three months ago! I should at least update the photos so that I can keep a record that I visited the city/festival.. haha. I will try to comment on things that I can remember as much as I can! :) * In Lausanne, on my way to train station. It was snowing... a lot. :P The train had to stop from time to time .. 더보기
Paris, France For the second to the last weekend in Europe, I went to Paris for three days!I had been to Paris before (more than two years ago), but it was just for three days in hot, steaming weather with swarming tourists everywhere- also in my memories Parisiens weren't not very nice to strangers, so it's kinda true I haven't been really fond of Paris (the best part of trip in France mostly took place in t.. 더보기
Milano, Italy Last weekend, I went for a three-day long distance trip to Milano! I headed out on Saturday morning (8:20 am departure) and came back to Switzerland on Monday night.Unfortunately the pictures I took in Milano are (1) not a lot in quantity and (2) not in good quality. :( So don't have high expectations! This post is in fact just to leave a record of my trip before I forget what I did there. haha... 더보기
Updates! (CERN, snow, and life) Haven't made a post for a while- I have already been here for nearly two months, and the final month is coming up. I had always been hoping that I would spend my time in the most effective and memorable ways, and looking back the last two months, I think I am half and half; I know that I could not have gone different ways, but still I feel regrettable a bit. My life pattern every week has not ch.. 더보기
Les Rochers de Naye This weekend trip was supposed to be going to Evian-les-Bains, a small French town right across Lac du Léman from Lausanne. But suddenly I thought I had seen enough lakeside scenery and craved to see some mountains! Since I have such limited time to travel on weekends, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (a town right beneath Mont Blanc) would be an impossible option. So I set out to Les Rochers de Naye, a moun.. 더보기
Catching up 1.Not much to post these days; haven't been on another day trip last weekend due to church gathering, and work is repetitive without many excitements. But there is one thing I am very very looking forward to- WINTER! It is coming, I can feel it. I feel it from the chilly mornings and frosty breaths, shorter days and longer nights, crowded metro and thicker coats of people walking by. I even start.. 더보기
Random musings So, some fragmentary thoughts I've had during the three weeks of time here: 1.Re-watched Howl’s Moving Castle. (Notice my background music..) Found out that the background for the animation is Alsace in France. And Alsace is now in my bucket list! Here's the list (I know it would be difficult to visit all of them in three months, but oh well. haha) * Lavaux * Montreux * Bern * Alsace (Strasbourg.. 더보기
Bern: the Medieval and the Modern For the third weekend I went to Bern, a city about one hour away via train from Lausanne! I was already tired from the work during the week so even on Saturday morning I couldn't decide whether I should go or not. But overall I am glad I did!Bern is the capital city of Switzerland, which most people confuse it to be Genève or Zürich. As I did some research on Bern, I found out that the whole Old.. 더보기
St. Aubin: La Saison de Vendanges For the first day of October, my boss slash task manager B.P. suggested me to take a day off and visit his hometown, a small town next to Lac de Neuchâtel named St. Aubin, where his family has lived for more than 500 years and are still running a vineyard and making wines in a small family business scale. The occasion is that right now it is la saison de vendanges (the grape harvest season) so I.. 더보기
