Catching up

1.

Not much to post these days; haven't been on another day trip last weekend due to church gathering, and work is repetitive without many excitements.

But there is one thing I am very very looking forward to- WINTER! It is coming, I can feel it. I feel it from the chilly mornings and frosty breaths, shorter days and longer nights, crowded metro and thicker coats of people walking by. I even started to keep a small blanket at the office to keep my legs warm.

The last time I witnessed the approaching of "real" winter would probably be three years ago, the last semester of my senior year in high school. And for the most recent two years I was in California where the weather doesn't change a lot- even in January you're pretty much set with a thick jacket and a scarf. And an umbrella.

I really hope I can get some snow here before I leave; then I would visit the mountain tops, or even go skiing. The hills, fields, rooftops would all be covered white. It would be so so beautiful.. But then I'm a bit worried I won't have enough thick clothes to sustain myself in the upcoming cold weather. And also I would need more determination to make a trip to get groceries, or even to travel. But still I can't wait to see the whole region covered in snow, visit Christmas markets at nights, and hear Christmas carols here and there.

Until now, with no internet at home, I've been reading books after I come home from work. I already finished about six, or seven novels. Some I've read before, some I haven't. Some really, really good, but others not so impressive.

But besides reading, I have found another way to endure the long weekday evenings- movies. On my laptop I leave about two movies on download during the day, and I watch them at home, at night. I really should have brought more movie files in my external hard drive, so I won't have to be downloading them secretly at work!

But still, I like the static lifestyle I'm having here though. Having internet would be ideal, of course, but it messes with your thoughts when you are really trying to think. A life without it makes me realize how much dependent I had been on it.

I have many ideas on mind on what I want to post on later, like the kinds of food I eat here, or the reviews of the novels/movies I've seen, thoughts I had recently, etc. But I won't try to force myself to rush into it- I don't want to make this feel like some kind of homework I have to do. After all I am doing this for fun, yes?

The two pictures below are the view of Lac du Léman from my window; it became my daily task to watch the sunset when I return home. I placed my small red sofa right next to the wide window so I can comfortably have a good look at it, sometimes with a glass of wine.

Sometimes when the weather is clear the sunshine reflects on the lake and creates another "sun", making it almost impossible to directly stare at the view. But then the sky soon turns blood red, then pitch dark in no time. That's why I love looking at the sky and the clouds- the sky changes its face minute by minute, second by second, and it never gets boring.
