Lyon: La fête des lumières (1)

A very, very, very late update on Lyon's La fête des lumières, which was already more than three months ago! I should at least update the photos so that I can keep a record that I visited the city/festival.. haha. I will try to comment on things that I can remember as much as I can! :)

In Lausanne, on my way to train station. It was snowing... a lot. :P

The train had to stop from time to time because of the  heavy snow-
both ones from Lausanne to Genève, and then
Genève to Lyon.

The place I stayed in Lyon- I found it on Airbnb, and the host was a girl of my age. Her mother and cousin were really friendly. They offered me tea, cakes, and breakfast. The cousin was a girl from Michigan who came to study in France for college.

The festival was from December 6th to 9th, and I was in Lyon on 7th and 8th. I missed the big openings and finales but it was all good anyway. :)

The room on the top floor of the building, where I stayed. It was cozy and all, except that it was a bit cold at night.

Headed out to the whole city to see the lights after dinner!

The city hall.. I think.

A heart, from Prada.

The best piece of the night! Just... overwhelming. At the street with numerous shopping places :)

Dragon!

A big ferris wheel in the plaza.

Another setup around Napoleon's statue. The people had to ride bikes beneath the statue so that they can "light it up."
As people pedal for few minutes, the light gets brighter and brighter and finally explodes. XD
I personally thought it was a very clever idea to use the bikes, because citizens of Lyon actually use public bikes a lot to commute.

So much good street food, but couldn't have any.. :( :( Forgot to bring my purse outside! Hungryyyy

Wow so many peeps..

Street food in France are soooo much cheaper than in Switzerland..

People on segways whom you can ask for any kind of tourist information!

This cathedral was THE BOMB. Just watch.

.... amazing, isn't it? People literally cried out with amazement!

Even the pettiest streets brightened up with various kinds of lights..

D'awwww look at that kid :)

This one was submitted by a Korean artist! Three dresses made up with optical fibers. This exhibition was the only one with benches nearby, so many people chilled at the benches before heading to other stops, enjoying these dresses. I also took a 30-min break here.

The remaining pics of the festival are uploaded in Lyon: La fête des lumières (2).
