Lausanne

Je suis arrivée!

This post is one of my efforts to stay awake and ward off jetlag ASAP. From what I had known, there isn't any internet connection in my home, not even a place to plug in a LAN line. That was actually true. But thanks to a mysterious resident with a very low, but usable wi-fi connection, I now haz internet!  Faith in humanity restored? :P

It was a long journey all the way here: eleven hours to Frankfurt, then about five hours of waiting, and an hour to Geneva. Then finally to Lausanne via another hour long cab ride. The cab lady kept talking to me in the car when I was about to faint with tiredness but it was all good; she helped me pick up the key and dropped me right in front of my new home.

My home is located right across my workplaceIt is a studio with three individual rooms, shared kitchen and bathroom/shower. When I first walked in, I was surprised at how big and neat my room was! The floor, walls, and the ceiling are all white and the windows are huge, located on two sides of the walls. I really love it, especially the furnitures. Their designs are so simple :) Also one of the windows is facing Lake Léman, which is very very very good.

This is how my room looks like from the entrance. It seems as if the floor is blue but actually it is more of a beige-ish gray. I especially like that the windows are big enough for the sunlight to fill in the whole room :) The bed is quite small, but cozy. There's also a sink on the other side of the room, though it's not visible from here - I'm glad because my dorm in college never had one. Also there's a really cute red sofa next to the desk!

:)

This is from the window facing the lake! It's sort of blocked by Nestlé building and the trees, but the view is still literally breathtaking. Today I took the train to/from Genève and because it runs along the lakeside, I could enjoy the scenery surrounding the lake; the harmony of the lake, farm fields, mountains, and hillside houses was just amazing. Although it should get cold quickly from now on, the weather was especially sunny today too! There were also many yachts on the lake, boasting their vast and white sails.

Finalement, my bed. I moved my low tiny drawer and desk lamp next to it to create a small reading area, where I can have some quality time listening to music, drinking tea, or reading books.

Tomorrow I'm going
 to
Genève again because it's Jeûne federal here in Lausanne and all the stores will be closed.  By the end of tomorrow I should have a working iPhone (kakaotalk again, at last) and some groceries to cook for myself yayay. And from the next day, work begins. Next weekend I could perhaps go to Lutry/Lavaux for la Fête des Vendanges, a celebration of its grape harvest season!  May I just say, I'm starting to love this place already? :)
